Description
The RGB LED bolt-on adds an array of ultra-bright LEDs to your ESP32-CAN-X2 development board – use it to create CAN bus controlled alerts and indicators!
Features
- 10 RGB LEDs arranged in two groups of 5 LEDs
- Uses Ultra-bright WS2812 LEDs (be careful when testing!)
- 42x72mm board dimension
- Full documentation and Arduino sample code
- Designed to plug into the ESP32-CAN-X2 dual CAN bus development board
Demo
Demo of RGB-LED-bolt-on connected to RaceCapture via CAN bus, controlling brightness of the array based on G-force being read from RaceCapture’s accelerometers.
To replicate this demo, use the can-led-alerts.ino Arduino example and the Lua script preset “rgb-led-bolt-on demo 2” under RaceCapture scripting.
Stacks on top of the ESP32-CAN-X2
The RGB LED bolt-on is designed to install on top of the ESP32-CAN-X2, but other configurations can be custom wired. 2×20 male / female pin headers not included, but commonly available.
Things you can do with the RGB LED bolt-on
Display an alert on the dashboard
Display a sensor alert, such as engine temperature, fluid level, or more. You have full control of the color, blinking, and animation
Indicator to tell driver to pit or stay on track
Have it respond to pit-to-car alerts and light up a certain color to tell the driver it’s time to come in!
+/- predictive lap vs delta
Create a big indicator showing whether you’re going faster or slower than the target lap!
