What region / location / tracks do you currently race at?

I spend most of my time at Brainerd International Raceway, Mid America Motorplex and Road America.

What class do you compete in?

Most of my time has been HPDE events. When doing time trials I usually compete in the Front Wheel Drive Unlimited class.

What’s your racing history?

I started in 2007 doing autocross. For a few years I attended many of the local events. For my 30th birthday my wife bought me a seat at the Brainerd International Raceway Performance Driving School. Since then I’ve drifted from autocross to HPDE and open track days. This past year I tried a rallycross event, as well as some time trails in ice racing. I’m also trying to get a few more people committed to building a car for the Chump Car series.

Future plans?

I would like to attend as many events as possible and start working towards getting a competition license. I am in the very early planning stages of entering the 2015 One Lap of America event as well.

In what areas are you using RaceCapture/Pro to fill in those data knowledge gaps (engine, driver behavior, etc) to help you go faster?

At first my reason for purchasing the RaceCapture/Pro was to provide a data source for video overlay. My goal with that was to watch corner entry setup and exit. In doing so I noticed a lot of places I could improve. By hooking up the brake switch I was able to see at what points in the track of I was coasting instead of driving the car into corners. That has helped quite a bit, and as a result I am gaining more and more confidence in myself and the car. Since then I’ve also been using the RCP to see how the car reacts to various changes in suspension setup.

If you were any race track in the world, what race track would you be?

I would love to drive at Laguna Seca. The corkscrew looks like it would be so much fun. Internationally I would love to give the Nurburgring Nordschleife a try as well. All the elevation changes look like they would be a lot of fun, as well as challenging.
